45hz047 – Biome – Two Way EP – [Black Box]

One of the most consistent producers in all of dubstep, Biome stays true to form on his latest EP for Black Box. Things start off with a bang on “Charged,” a half-step minimal monster with plenty of atmosphere. Next comes “First Light,” a techno-infused stomper for fans of Killawatt and Gantz – something a bit different from Biome, who strays from his half-step roots with great success.
The lovely “Inner Mind” brilliantly uses piano keys and vocal samples that seem like a nod to drum & bass luminary Calibre. The shuffling drums give this tune a bit of a garage feel. Rounding out the EP is “Reality,” which is signature Biome – subtle melodies, chanting vocals, and crushing synths that will please any fans of Youngsta-style dubstep. For the digital heads, the title track “Two Way” is included as a bonus – similar to “First Light,” the sparse use of snare make this tune a must have as the emphasis is placed on it’s percussion and warbling bassline.
Highly recommended.
